What is a ghost job?
A ghost job is a job posting that looks open but is unlikely to lead to a real hire soon — kept live for recruiting pipelines, compliance optics, or market signaling rather than filling a seat.
How does Ghost Tracker detect ghost jobs?
Ghost Tracker scores each listing from observable signals such as how long it has stayed open, whether it was removed and reposted, how vague the role description is, and other flags in the methodology. Scores are hypotheses to verify — not final verdicts.
What does the confidence score mean?
Confidence is a 0–100 estimate of how strongly public signals suggest the posting behaves like a ghost job. Use it to prioritize skepticism and further checks, not to automatically dismiss every opportunity.
Is Ghost Tracker free?
Yes. The live table and FAQ content are free to browse. Extension install instructions are emailed on request — no account is required to explore the table.
Where is the machine-readable API?
A public API is available at /api/ghost-jobs. Filter with query params such as company, role, signal, status, and minConfidence. Documentation lives on the scoring methodology page.
How should job seekers use this data?
Treat high-confidence listings as a prompt to ask recruiters about timeline, headcount approval, and interview process length. Cross-check with the company career site and LinkedIn hiring manager activity before investing heavy application time.
